The perfect melding of sporty and urban, sacai is no stranger to the Japanese luxury fashion scene. Sacai was founded in 1999 by Creative Director Chitose Abe, who formerly worked at COMME des GARCONS. Since then, the brand sacai has established itself as a cult fashion label in just 20 years. Abe previously spent eight years working at COMME des GARCONS as a patternmaker under Rei Kawakubo and later for Junya Watanabe’s team. The brand was set up after motherhood left her seeking a creative outlet.
Already a well-known name in women’s wear, Abe’s menswear for sacai bears the same experimental and edgy aesthetic as its sister line. The former Comme des Garçons designer melds sound tailoring with quirky Japanese styling and detailing.
